This examination represents an interdisciplinary project involving English literatures and the principles of foreign language acquisition. In the literary analyse, postcolonial picture books in English as teaching material for language classes for young children are examined and discussed with focus on Edward Said's "Orientalism" and Standey Fish's "Reader-Response Criticism". A case study conducted in Chemnitz kindergartens complements the theoretical work with a practice-oriented approach.
