Jane Edwards had just recently lost her husband unexpectedly and thought it was his time to go anyway because he had a weak heart. She was sad just like any normal woman in her shoes would be, but as time passed by she was able to cope with his passing the best that she could. Jane loved to paint, but because her husband was very ill her passion was put on hold.  As the nights wore on and Jane was keeping busy painting, something was lurking behind a door in the attic that had been locked for over a century.

Jane’s nightmares were back, but this time it wasn't her husband she was having nightmares about it was something much evil than that. She decided the best way to deal with her nightmares was to drink a glass of wine just before going to bed in hopes the nightmares would subside, but the wine was just a temporary fix that couldn't be ignored.

One night as she was sleeping footsteps could be heard in the attic, but she just blamed it on the wine, and the fact she was living in an older home all alone.

The next morning she called her friend Susan to try to get some reassurance that she was getting worked up over nothing. Jane asked her to come over for tea around noon time and Susan gladly accepted the invitation.

Susan brought over some self-help books to help her cope with her loss so she could stay more focused on her passion of painting.  As Jane and Susan were sitting on the back porch sipping on their tea, Jane said, "I really feel much better now that I asked you over. It really gets hard knowing my husband won't be coming home for supper and taking walks with me in the afternoon."

"Jane, I can't imagine what you are going through, but I just want you to know you can count on me to be there anytime you need to talk," said a teary eyed Susan.

Jane and Susan's conversation went on until dark, then Susan said goodbye to her friend and drove home. Jane gathered her books and headed back into her house for the night. Just as Jane's head hit her pillow a loud banging noise was coming from the attic. Just to make matters worse a storm knocked out the power so Susan had to feel her way into the kitchen to get a flashlight to see what the loud banging noise coming from the attic was. Susan turned on her flashlight, and carried a baseball bat with her in case it was just an animal that was trapped and couldn't get out.
