Joseph Thomas Sheridan Le Fanu (1814 – 1873) was an Irish writer of Gothic tales and mystery novels. He was the leading ghost-story writer of the nineteenth century and was central to the development of the genre in the Victorian era. Three of his best-known works are Uncle Silas, Carmilla and The House by the Churchyard. Ghosy Stories of Chapelizod by Le Fanu was firstly published in the Dublin University Magazine in January 1851. It is a collection of three brief mystical stories - The Village Bully, The Sexton's Adventure, and The Spectre Lovers - set in the suburban village of Chapelizod. Le Fanu found out excellent way to get the reader interested in these horrible but very attractive ghost stories.
