Along with him goes Imam Bilal Al-Din, a Malian scholar who has grown up as an orphan at the palace in Damascus alongside Tariq. They take with them the most skilled men from Arabian, African and Mediterranean tribes, the multi-racial foundation of the Moorish-Iberian community under Islam, that sail into Iberia numbering 5000 souls.
