In a port town under the roof of an old building (house) in Primorskii boulevard there lived a family of grey sparrows. All of them were grey: the father was grey, the mother was grey, the elder brothers were grey but the youngest baby bird was bright ginger.
“As for his colour it’s not ok,” the father chirped. “Our boy is likely to catch any cat’s eye.”
“I won’t catch anyone,” objected Ginger. “Why on earth?”
“What an odd fellow he is!? The father laughed. “It is your feathering that will catch the cat’s eye, not you. It would be a good thing to stay alive.”
“Alive! Alive!” chirped Ginger.
The mother-sparrow clasped her son to her bosom and gently reproached her husband:
“Ah! Chif Chifych! What for to frighten the baby? Look, he resembles the sun so much! I am sure that his life will be bright, rich and long.”
