I thought saying grace before meals was trivial. I did not feel anything when I used to say “Thank you for this meal”, even though I have read and understood a number of books on gratitude. Until one day. I was awakening from a deep sleep.
When the Gratitude technique came my way, at first I thought: “This is so easy that it cannot be true”. That's it, I am insane, call the ambulance: I will find the strength and manner to be admitted to hospital. Nevertheless, since I have always given everyone the chance to present themselves, I have decided to do the same with the Gratitude technique and so I have put it to the test.
I needed to let go and forgive. For years I have forgiven myself, others and the departed. Everyone. But I have never actually forgiven and let go. Whom should I be letting myself go to?
So I started by giving thanks right, left and center. I was having fun. Soon, answers started to come about before I even asked my questions. Thank you, thank you, thank you, …
And one day – I pieced it together!
Relief, lightheartedness, happiness beyond words. I was free. Thank you, thank you, thank you, …
I felt butterflies in my stomach like when in love. Each day I find something or someone to THANK!
Thank you,
Grateful
