HIS THREE VOLLEY SALUTE: Lessons in Letting Go

For the first eighteen years of Hannah’s life, she was abused and neglected by her parents. Even as a little girl, she craved a healthy relationship with her father especially. As the years passed, and the abuse increased, so did her sense of hollowness in this relationship, leaving her empty handed. When she became a Christian at age 27, God began to reveal himself to her as her heavenly father. Still, Hannah tenaciously pursued a relationship with her earthly father, but felt only disappointment.

At age forty, despite great apprehension of being permanently rejected by her earthly father, Hannah let go of her expectations of him. God then opened her eyes to see he was already there, being the father she never had. Through her father’s death, God demonstrated a most unexpected and extraordinary grace to Hannah, and she hasn’t felt empty handed since.
