Ginger is bitter and stimulating.
Cinnamon is sweet and intense.
Together they complement and excite one another, like the two main characters do in this novel.

Sara Russo is a cheerful, gutsy girl who works as a free-lance journalist for a weekly magazine. She has convinced her editor to let her write about the spread of drug use in discos. She was in Afghanistan during the war and is not in the least afraid of young drug dealers.

Jacob Cioran is a cold, reticent Romanian with a less than squeaky clean background: he owns various night spots in Rome, living unperturbed among shady deals, women and sex. One Saturday night, though, he finds himself facing the problem of a nosy journalist who gets herself into trouble and it happens to be right inside one of his discos.

Sara recalls, “I remember nothing about that night and that makes me even more determined to find out what really happened; Mr. Cioran is my only clue.”

Jacob’s version is that “Something has changed since that Saturday, but Sara has to forget all about it and get on with her life for her own sake and for mine.”
This book has two narrators who tell the love story between Sara and Jacob. It was self-published in Italy in October 2014 and since then translated into English, Romanian and Spanish.

“I can’t get the pain out of my mind, it is too intense and piercing, as if someone had torn out my soul, and with every passing hour the suffering becomes stronger.” Sara

“It is something that goes deeper, more intimate than just sex, something that defines an end without limits and a journey without prescribed paths to follow. There are only the two of us, myself and him. No rules, no certainty about where we are going: we are only this moment, we are only this night.” Jacob.
