My eyes scanned the dark outline of the round room since there were no corners. “There are no varmints as far as I can tell,” I announced in relief.
“You’re shivering.” He began rubbing his hands briskly up and down my arms to warm me, but it only added to my discomfort. My tremors weren’t from the cold—something much more powerful and stimulating had a hold on me. “I’m not cold,” I said abruptly, drawing away from him.
