Penny Heggie Austin was born in central Florida and grew up in Wilmington, Illinois. She moved back to Florida in 1985 to help her brother, who suffered from cancer. She is a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and active in the Methodist Church. She is the president of the Methodist Women’s group in her church. Penny has lost many people in her life, and she attributes her faith in God for getting her through rough times.
