Commitment The word commitment is defined as "the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause or activity." It is also "an engagement or obligation that restricts freedom of action." If we're going to live faithful lives, we must have the word "commitment" written on our chests. We must be dedicated. The reason why some of us are so ready to throw in the towel so easily is that people have let us down in our pasts. Men, this is especially true if you didn't have a good relationship with your mother. That can become something that affects your future relationship with your wife. The abandonment of a father can also make a huge impact for a young boy growing up into a man. Not having my father in my life affected me drastically. I felt like I wasn't loved, and it caused me to do things that today I'm not proud of. Commitment is the glue that keeps you strong, even when you feel weak. If you know that you have people committed to you, then you want to be committed to others. If you are a good father, and you have sons and daughters, your children feel safe, even if there's a little static in your relationship with your wife. Your children feel your commitment. They feel dedication and loyalty from you and your wife. This will keep them strong, keep them from some – if not all – of the negative influences that they face.
