Hannah wanted a male child, and for that her adversary constantly mocked and made jest of her. Peninnah’s provocation was a scorching sun on Hannah’s broken heart. The adversary’s provocation terribly triggered her sorrows. Her pains were triggered as her “ rival provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb”.
But Peninnah’s provocation couldn’t burn out Hannah’s memory of what she wanted from the Lord - “a man child”. Yet in it all, Hannah’s definition of what she wanted from God remained unfading. Anyway, Hannah got tired of all the mess, and went for what she wanted, and got what she wanted. You also can rise from your low state and go for what you wanted out of life. Getting it is your key to stardom. We don’t often need all the desperation we jerk up whenever we found ourselves in problem. Neither do we need those ‘spiritual rituals’ we frenzy into. More than we would like to own up, frenzy and desperation are the products of our inner fear and confusion.
Mind you, it was when Hannah stopped hustling from man to man and ran into the presence of Her Maker that her miracle child came.
