Hugh Jackman is an Australian actor and producer. He was catapulted into the spotlight after portraying Wolverine in the "X-Men" franchise. Some of his other films include, "The Prestige", "The Fountain", and "Australia". He also received a Tony Award for his work in "The Boy from Oz", and Emmy for his work hosting The Tony Awards.

He is best known to contemporary audiences as Wolverine in Bryan Singer's lavish adaptation of the popular Marvel comic X-Men (2000). But apart from playing his long-running role in the X-Men film series, he has accumulated an extensive acting portfolio thanks to his work both on television and in musical theater.

Jackman got his first big break right after graduation with a starring role on the popular Australian TV series Corelli broadcast by ABC TV in 1995. Subsequently, he appeared in a number of other TV series, and also started to earn recognition for his work on the stage in such productions as Beauty and the Beast, Sunset Boulevard, as well as Trevor Nunn's acclaimed Royal National Theater production of Oklahoma.
