Instar is a developmental stage in between the molts of some insects, generally speaking. It is the part of the metamorphosis that is often overlooked or not totally understood. As poetry, Instar talks about the concealed splendor of growing, of transformation. The process of metamorphosis is not exclusive of the insects; however, it is in them that we can perceive it as being very dramatic. This allegory comes from the fact that insects are remarkably adaptive, resilient, and strong, just like we are. Instar is the pause we are all allowed to take to breathe, to introspect, to soul search. This small collection of poems in free verse narrates the personal journey of the author in many facets, from creation and birth to death and resurrection.
