Into the Night and Fog is the first part of the WWII mystery/thriller and love story that forms The Berlin Trilogy. It is December 1941 and a German citizen, Thomas Rost, is summoned to SD headquarters in Berlin and given an ultimatum by the feared head of the Nazi Party's police and intelligence agency. General Reinhard Heydrich, recently appointed Protector of Moravia and Bohemia, wants newspaperman Rost to find a diary, missing for ten years. The contents could spell disaster for some of the top Nazis, including Adolf Hitler. With the diary, Heydrich would earn the Fuehrer's gratitude and advance his own career. A man of conscience, Rost balks at the demand but, in the end, has no choice. So read on and learn what happens as this fact-based tale of life in the capital of wartime Germany unfolds .Author's note: Some trilogies are structured almost like stand-alone books, while other trilogies feature parts that are very closely connected, one story leading directly into the next. The Berlin Trilogy is of the latter type. Part 2, A Gypsy in Berlin, picks up where Into the Night and Fog ends, and The Christmas Trade concludes the trilogy. A one-volume edition of The Berlin Trilogy is also available, as The Book Finder.
