Security is one of the key words of our time, probably the key word for excellence.
Security (from the Latin “sine cura “ , ie without concern ) is defined by dictionaries as “knowledge that the evolution of a system will not produce undesirable states .” In simpler
terms it means to know, to have the conviction that what we do is going to happen or will not cause damage.
Behind it all is the knowledge then, because only effective knowledge, and therefore a scientific foundation, can secure a well-founded assessment of the level of security that we
have.
This premise to better frame, from the outset, the meaning and the sense of a magazine devoted entirely to issues of Security. Yeah, but what are the issues of security? What is its fields of application? On what this magazine should really focus on?
Let’s start by saying that the total security does not exist because it provides the total absence of danger. Which in real life, that of all days, it is impossible. Let’s start by saying that the total security does not exist because it provides the total absence of danger. Which in real life, that of all days, it is impossible. Although it is true that the search for rules of Security even better is transfused into a better quality of life.
As we said, in Italian the word security is comprehensive and is often confused with another term: Prevention. In English, the term Security concerns specifically the protection of information, while the term Security concerns more directly to the Security of persons.
In practice there is no area of life where there are no implications regarding Security:
information technology, communications, transportation, but also to accidents (automotive Security, Security at work, home security and so on). But the big umbrella of Security that applies to all is the National Security and International Security that affects both the defense
of human attacks (terrorism) that the defense against disasters (earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, etc.).
Modern societies, in contrast to what happened in the past, today pay great attention to the issues of security. We realize that, for example, every time we have to catch a plane. Those pesky and often interminable queues that we have to face after check in, the having to empty your pockets from metal objects, not being able to bring on board even a bottle of water, then pass under a metal detector every time they tell us that someone (the employees) is ensuring that our flight was not sure if at least as safe as possible.
This great attention to the Security of the flights certainly comes from the fact that, much more in the past, but even in recent times, terrorism has targeted aircraft.
But the paradox is that this ordered by the Security exists only when we take a plane, never when we enter a train station, and yet in Madrid terrorism struck their trains.
