The book of Job is the story of a blameless man of God who fell on hard times. More than that, however, it is the story of a manès feeble attempt to understand that purpose of a soverieng God.

In this story we meet Satan in the presence of God. We see the rightous suffer while the evil person seems to prosper. We watch a blameless man curse the day he was born while God seems to remain silent. More than anything else, however, we meet a God who can use whatever happens to us to accomplish great good in the life of a persevering saint.

The book of Job is a message from a sovereign God in a world of suffering and pain. It is a reminder to us all that God has not relingished the control of this world. Ultimately, Job comes to realize that knowing God is more importan than knowing the reason for our suffering and pain. The book challenges us to put our trust in God even when we do not understand His purposes.
