This is the second book “Puberty” and continues with his third and fourth years and the exploits of a young fireman in the 1960's. This edition contains over 60 contemporary images. In 1963 Michael Edward Fairn joined a Northern City County Borough Fire Brigade (after his 'Probation' period as described in Book One). His development continues in this edition by being accepted by the older firemen and eventually learning to drive first line appliances, 'Red Machines'. There are graphic descriptions of many incidents he attends, including a fire in a brothel, a house totally destroyed by an explosion and many incidents of mill fires, so prevalent in those days. Michael also encounters strong resistance with his girlfriend's father which after many months culminates in the last chapter. 89,245 words.
