Told as an autobiographical memoir, this fictional novel tells of the life of John Fisher and his likes, secrets, passions and loves. From his childhood in the Scottish Borders town of Peebles in the early 1960s, when the use of corporal punishment was not only legal but encouraged but it was illegal just to be gay, it runs through to his retirement and his encounters along the way. With a love of fast motorcycles and leather, John tells of his passion for one young man in particular and how, despite the hurdles which life can throw at him, love can overcome anything.

But on the journey through his life while he may lose one family, he gains another, to whom he gets particularly close.

This is a companion novel to Marc Murrey's critically acclaimed first novel 'the Boy Who Laughed' and can be read as a stand alone story, with characters you get to know and love.
