“The timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness. And knows that yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream.”
Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
So what’s the big deal about being in the Here and Now and living Just for Today?
You could say that if you’re not living in the Here and Now you’re not living in reality.
When you’re Futuring, anticipating, or more likely dreading a future event; you do so out of fear. Fear of failure, rejection, looking ridiculous, and so on and so forth. Futuring is never real.
Pasting typically involves some form of regret or self badgering, dwelling on past mistakes, poor decisions or some regret. Living Just for Today is living in Reality.
Even if your pasting is pleasant remembering, it includes wishing you were
somewhere other than where you really are.
Both Pasting and Futuring rob you of the tremendously enjoyable experience of being with your self in the Here and Now, of living Just for Today.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone, most of us struggle with staying in the Here and Now. The present seems to be elusive.
Make no mistake Futuring, trying to live in the future, robs you of the joy of your present existence. Learn how to live Just for Today.
And of course since pasting, or dwelling upon the past is most often a negative regretting experience, it is not conducive to a healthier, happier life and it robs you of the total joyous Now.
Am I right so far? Sound familiar?
