Katy Perry is an American singer-songwriter and musician. Perry was brought up in a strict Christian home, listening only to Christian music.

 

Perry's first record was an unsuccessful self-titled gospel album released in 2001. Perry released her first internet single "Ur So Gay" in 2007, but did not rise to fame until her second single "I Kissed a Girl" topped international charts in 2008.

 

Perry's first album, One of the Boys, followed later in 2008. Both of Perry's singles "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot n Cold" received multi-platinum certifications. Perry's second album, Teenage Dream, was released in the United States and Canada on August 24, 2010, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200.
