Charles Montgomery Skinner (1852-1907) was an American writer who published myths and legends collection books. His dream was to make American folklore heritage more glorious. Skinner worked in a wide range of genres, he worked as a journalist and a playwright. “Kayuta and Waneta” by Skinner is a short legend-story taken from folklore of USA. The story narrates the love between daughter of chief, Waneta, and Kayuta, a hunter of a neighboring tribe with which he people were at war. Useless war led main characters to the fatal end where no one left happy. Waneta tragically died been caught and swallowed by a quagmire. Saw the end of his love, Kayuta joined her in the spirit-land.
