Moral injury: a state of mind or being caused by a serious confrontation of consciousness. Typically, the morally injured person perceives a cloud of unknowing before birth and after death that threatens to overwhelm the only knowable portion of the spectrum, one’s life and the lives of other people that one can’t help but notice in the course of one’s life. This condition often manifests itself as a confusion over how to behave, a confusion over what is right and what is wrong.
