Torn apart by disagreements and arguments, we are hated, but not for Christs sake. Instead, too often we are despised for our self-righteousness and mocked for our hypocrisy.

Distracted by popular, trendy doctrines masquerading as the revolutionary good news of Jesus Christ we are irrelevant as salt and light. Our churches preach a gospel that soothes but brings no conviction. Filling the pews with tares, we sell the gospel as a self-improvement panacea that requires nothing of the hearer.

We should not be surprised then that so many Christians are immature and easily swayed by the false brilliance of the world. So focused on grasping some imagined earthly success, we prefer enslavement to the world to liberty in Christ.

And so begins Letter To a Christian.
