I bury the bone so deep that the dogs have to scratch for it.  Gurdjieff said this about his own writings and his style, which involves paragraph-long sentences that include multiple thought-streams, is intentionally difficult in order to make the reader flex his mind.  It is partly an exercise for strengthening the brain and partly a method for transmitting pearls of wisdom.  This professionally designed and edited edition has been recently re-formatted for improved compatibility with devices and a fully-functional table of contents.

Life is Real, Only Then, When I Am, privately printed in 1974, consists of the incomplete text of the third part of his All and Everything Series which includes Beelzebub’s Tales to his Grandson and Meetings with Remarkable Men.  It’s purpose, according to Gurdjieff, is to assist the arising, in the mentation and in the feelings of the reader, of a veritable, non-fantastic representation, not of that illusory world which he now perceives, but of the world existing in reality.
