"Lighthouses of Hope" begins as a tribute to spy-author Elleston Trevor (Adam Hall of the Quiller series). Trevor had lost his own wife to cancer, and suggested that the author read Quantum Healing by a then relatively unknown author named Deepak Chopra. This book is also a tribute to Betty Lareva, (a nurse and wife of Lutheran pastor Jim Lavera,) who first introduced the author to guided imagery during her battle with cancer. These were the first seeds which started the author on a search to understand the interactions of prayer and healing and what Candace Pert calls the 'body-mind' matrix.
Based on a study sabbatical carried out in the United States, Canada and Europe, the author brings the reader to many people and places of healing and hope. The first part of the book tells the author's journey as he meets and interviews famous healers and people of prayer. He takes the reader on his travels to famous sites such as Glaustonbury Tor, Chimayo, Taize, and into the halls of some of America's greatest researchers of religion, medicine and spirituality.
There are many being healed through things such as intercessory prayer, laying on of hands, interactive guided imagery, soaking prayer and the belief in healing energy. The author attempts to discover what links prayer, healing and the way the body and mind work together for healing.
The author exposes the reader to some of the best Christian writers on the healing ministry of Jesus and its reality in the 21st Century.
