Hanako was raised on a space-station, and would have loved to continue her life there. Instead, she was dragged by her mother on the trip to colonize the planet Mega, a disaster that ended with her mother’s death. Hanako was left on a strange world that made her space-adapted body ache with strain. She still can’t find her place, and is rejected most by the colony’s leader, Baki Tadeas, who encourages everyone else to ostracize her too.
When Hanako seeks some peace, quiet, and refuge from the colony’s unaccepting climate, she roams the hills of Mega. Usually the local wildlife leaves her alone, but this time, a skyver comes after her stash of muffins. That would have been fine except when Hanako chased it away, more came.
Many more.
As well as a stampede. And a geological event that will transform the planet’s ecology.
Now Hanako has to fight the animals, the planet, and her own body as she tries to escape. If she makes it, she’ll have to warn the other colonists. And hope they’ll believe an outcast.
