Through the eyes of Madar Guirmean, a faerie from Segais, after being assigned her first human client and enters the human world, discovers she has the gift of seeing the Lost Ones - a vile creature that whispers words of hate and fear into the ears of humans.
Outbounding -
To be an Outbounder one must go through rigorous training at the Agaric, underground tunnels in Segais. If you are a successful applicant, you can either become a Windtalker or a Tree Dweller in the human world. Windtalkers sit on the shoulder of their selected human client and whisper words of greatness and enlightenment. Mostly faeries and elves train up to do this as they tend to be more patient and are smaller in size. Gnomes on the other hand prefer to work with trees and animals and are more likely to become Tree Dwellers.
You humans cannot see these folk from Segais at work trying to make the world a better place, but you can certainly feel them, and on odd occasions have dreams about them. So the next time you suddenly come upon a great idea or solution to a problem, it may not be your own mind at work here, but simply the words of an Arum faerie or Ulmarian Elf from Segais sending you into the right direction.
