Dr. Layton is a clinical psychologist with thirty years experience working with the challenging patients who have severe mental health issues.

He was recently in 2010 given a 20 year achievement award by the Depressive and Bipolar Support Alliance (the largest consumer run support organization in the United States) for his dedication and service. Dr Layton is the Assistant Director or psychology and Intern training at Alvarado Parkway Institute Behavioral Health Systems.

Is a Federal Expert Witness and has a small private practice in San Diego. Dr Layton has been known to introduce himself at speaking engagements as: "an over educated surfer" Much of his life has been dedicated to the development of tactics to improve coping skills for those who are challenged by ineffective coping skills.

As life occurs it is to be expected we will experience loss, so to negotiate through life more gracefully, it is suggested that you learn to get really good at dealing with loss and abandonment reaction.

One of the best indicators of mental health is coping and adapting. So please be open to learning this life skill that you can use today and tomorrow and to various leaves of severity for the rest of your life.

You will need paper and pen to write down your thoughts on the questions you will be asked.
