Ira Singh is a beautiful young reporter who interviews a death row inmate at Mallerford, a prison in a contemporary but unconventional setting. Kallerman, a murderer, is initially belligerent, but opens up due to Singh's considerable charms. Singh feels the despair of Kalleman's hopeless situation, and develops an irrational affection for him. After his conversation with Singh, Kallerman returns to the prison in a joyful state.
