ABOUT THE BOOK

The name Maria Kirilenko may not yet be commonplace outside the environs of professional tennis, but this is something that is rapidly changing. Talented, beautiful, photogenic, and a fan favorite, Maria Kirilenko is quickly making a name for herself, and not just in the world of tennis.

Maria Kirilenko started to play tennis at age seven in Russia, and she was barely 13 when she turned professional, becoming a world traveler on the tennis circuit before age 18. Maria had her tennis breakthrough run at the WTA 2005 tour at Beijing, when she defeated Maria Sharapova in the semifinals and won the title. In July, 2008, she reached her career high singles rank of 18, and since that time her career and her rankings have steadily moved forward. As of February 2012, she was rated No. 25 in the world.

It is not only her proficient tennis skills that garners Maria Kirilenko attention, however. Maria is quickly gaining a reputation as the "hot babe of tennis" and the latest "Russian tennis pin-up girl.” Tall and slim at 5'8" and weighing 127 pounds, Maria Kirilenko invigorates the tennis world with tireless energy, a brilliant smile, and a natural girl-next-door loveliness.

EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK

Maria entered the public eye in a big way in 2006 when she was selected by British designer Stella McCartney to be the face of the Adidas women's tennis wear fashion line designed by McCartney. This was followed soon after by an appearance as part of the "Volley of the Dolls" photo spread, along with fellow tennis pros Tatiana Golovin and Daniela Hantuchova, in the ever-popular 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.

A hard worker both on the tennis court and off, Maria Kirilenko appreciates and loves her fans and maintains a close relationship with them. She is always willing to sign autographs, pose for pictures, and respond to fan questions and requests. Maria has a personal website where she keeps fans apprised of where she is competing and what the results are. The website also includes a blog in which Maria regularly shares her thoughts and feelings about the tournaments and the cities and places she visits. She also maintains an active presence on Facebook and Twitter.
