The first book in the Clara Trilogy is told mostly as a flashback. Josh hasn't been able to find work; his girlfriend Sarah works as a maid for the richest family in town. She says she might have a job for him, and at first he's excited at the prospect- until he realizes that it's with her, as a maid, and he starts to protest. "But come on," she says, "remember last Halloween?"
Last Halloween, Sarah had asked Josh to put together a costume but he hadn't bothered. "Fine," she had said, "Then you can just wear something of mine." Except she's the kind of girly girl who would wear a garter belt under jeans; he knows she's not going to let him off with some half-hearted costume, and sure enough, he finds himself shaved, plucked, made up and dressed out in an expensive French maid uniform.
And so is she.
What started out as a silly revenge game turns into much more, as both Sarah and Josh realize that they're both very excited by dressing as sexy twins for Halloween. Sarah even finds a dominant aspect to her personality that she'd never suspected...
