This is the story of Nitya, a girl who enjoyed growing up but refused to become a ‘groan up’. For her, life was an endless journey, somewhat like Alice of ‘Alice in wonderland’. Her father had travelled right across India for work, and as a result, the entire family was always and forever, caught up in the cultural crossfire of North and South. Yet, it was fun straddling both the worlds and making the most of the plenitudes life had to offer. Her marriage took her to another entirely different world where she found herself thrown into a strange, modern, and liberal, yet disturbed world.

Life turns full circle as she returns to the city of her childhood and youth, and looks at the travails of the present generation from the perspective of a wanderer’s soul.

The angst felt by Nitya is: why is the human society reeling in the grip of greed, intolerance and hatred. With better access to basic necessities, comforts, technology, intellectual resources and faster communication, life in the present times should have been more peaceful, accommodating and non- threatening. But sadly, that is not true!

Where have “we, the people” gone wrong?
