What’s the use of being on Gelion, at the center of the Sevolite empire, if you are supposed to wait around for a tardy chaperon to show you the sights? An impatient Victoria D’Ottawa strikes out on her own, instead. She never intended to break ever rule her chaperon, Amel, laid down for her before he left. She just happened to wind up visiting the UnderDocks and bothering the lieges of Fountain Court. But that was all because of Eler — the fourteen-year-old brother of the formidable Liege Nersal whom she happened to run into proclaiming poetry in a pub. Eler’s love of the literary arts makes him as much a misfit on Gelion as Victoria, but for different reasons, and they quickly prove to be a very bad influence on each other.

About the Author:

Krysia Anderson grew up hearing stories of the Okal Rel Universe as a friend of Lynda Williams’ middle daughter, Angela. Misfit on Gelion is the second novella in her series about Victoria D’Ottawa, a Demish girl who turns out to be half Vrellish, which explains why she finds flying and fighting more interesting than ladylike preoccupations. The first installment in the series is Misfit Leaves Home. Krysia is also the author of two short stories in Okal Rel Universe anthologies that feature Victoria or her origins.

The Okal Rel Saga:

Lynda William’s ten book series set in the Okal Rel Universe is published by Edge Science Fiction and Fantasy. Recurring themes of the series center around culture conflict and the moral and social impacts of radical changes in technology, including re-written rules of gender relations as a consequence of bio-engineering.
