Barry Pain (1864-1928) — was a British journalist, poet and writer. Barry Pain got education at Cambridge and soon started his literary career in 'Granta' journal and eventually became one of its most significant authors. Barry Pain gained recognition as a satirist as well as a horror writer.

'Miss Sakers' is a short satirical story by Barry Pain which is piecred with the spirit of delicate British humour. The story depicts human communication through signs and the misunderstanding that appears on the way. Miss Sakers is the local vicar's daughter and soon he she will have a stall at the bazaar. One day she visits the narrator and his wife and the two women begin sowing something, and then comes a moment when a man makes a remark that confuses everybody...
