Mitzy and her best friends, Everett and Penny (also known as the Linder twins), have just started their sophomore year at Cloudy High. Principal Lanthrop announces a surprise at assembly on Monday morning: a school-wide treasure hunt. The whole town of Pinkerton is big on treasure hunts, and Mitzy and her friends are especially interested in winning because the grand prize is none other than a rare and rather pricey Zoom Zoom skateboard. (How on earth did Cloudy High get its hands on a Zoom Zoom?) Coin finding is exciting at first, but then some typically odd Pinkerton events occur (the town is a little strange...things tend to vanish without explanation), plus Mitzy finds herself the target of a saboteur. Cloudy High is usually a pretty peaceful place, but things are starting to get out of hand! And why would someone target Mitzy? In her opinion, she is a pretty average sherbet punch lover, yoga enthusiast and amateur botanist with no special qualities except for rapidly growing hair. Ever since her mom disappeared three years ago as strangely and as suddenly as Mr. Norman's American elm tree, she isn't too big on surprises or attention. Enjoy this semi-mystery full of quirky characters. A perfect story for middle-grade readers.
