Standing someplace in between exhilarated and used down, the approach now was for the band's four members to spend a few weeks apart, compose, recover, and then reconvene in Nashville in the New Year, with the intention of screening material for their second album.

"We desired to do something unashamed," says Ben Lovett. "We're confident and delighted to be where we are as a band-- every little thing that's taken place with us has really exceeded expectations, and it's all been a shock, it's all much larger than exactly what we were prepared for. So when we included taping this record we had a choice: to shy away from that, or to acknowledge that individuals dig exactly what we're doing, and make something strong, with that energy."

The band came up with in the front space of a home and set about sharing the tunes they had actually been taking care of alone. "It was a coming together, a sharing of some things," clarifies Lovett (secrets, accordion, drums), "a pool of ideas that would definitely come out of our time apart. So if there was nervousness, it wasn't anxiety about the record, it was anxiety about precisely how a few these new tune concepts would decrease. Nonetheless we understood we were visiting play music, and it wasn't time to obtain into the nuts and bolts of it, it was more like we were starting another year from this point. And that felt excellent. Really fresh and natural."
