Bias of Priene is back! In the much awaited sequel to Murder at the Panionic Games, Bias must once again put his deductive powers to work to save his city-state from the miasma of death. King Gyges of Lydia, in an attempt to ally himself with ancient Greece, has sent several of his citizens to the city-state of Priene for the festival of Apaturia. They hope that by the end of the festival they will be adoped by prominent Ionian families. With any luck, a few of their daughters might marry Ionian men, as well. However, their plans are thwarted when a young Lydian man is found dead on the first day of the festival. In ancient Ionia, the Greek city-states have no police force. The family must deal with the matter. But, as the Lydians have no rights in Greek Priene, the lesser priest of Poseidon Holikonios, Bias, once again, is conscripted to solve the murder!
