I still remember how devastated my best friend was when his brother came out, admitting he was gay. Mark had called me distraught, not knowing how to handle it. His parents were trying to pretend everything was ok, but his dad was saying cruel things. His dad had started telling Mark he better stay straight and carry on the family name. I was as shocked as anyone. Mike had always been the tough guy jock, a few years older than us. He had always dated the cheerleaders, and all the girls wanted him, loving his dark, bad boy looks. He certainly never came across as no sissy. I remember being attracted to him slightly myself, even though I am not gay. But he is one of those guys who has a perfect chiseled body from hours in the gym.
He begged me to spend the night when his brother came home, for support. What started out as spending the night to protect my friend, ended with me questioning my own sexuality. But by morning, all the questions had been answered.
