Rukmini Dey is an associate professor of mathematics at International Center for Theoretical Sciences, TIFR, Bangalore. Before this she was at Harish Chandra Research Institute,
Allahabad. Both are research institutes devoted entirely to science and mathematics. Throughout her mathematical career, the author has written poems to relax and unwind. She is the granddaughter of the poet Bishnu Dey. Love of poetry and literature was instilled in her from childhood. She believes that mathematics and poetry are just two different flowers in the garden of one’s creative freedom.
