Tripp Mandrell is a senior in high school, six years prior he took on the onerous burden of becoming the man of the house when John Mandrell, Tripp’s father, was killed in a train accident. It appeared to be suicide but Tripp is determined to prove that it was murder.

Etta Bingly is a chef in training, her home life consists of an aloof mother who does little else but read, and an intense father who has plans for Etta's life. She meets and willingly helps Tripp investigate his father’s mysterious death. Together they interview an eclectic group of slippery suspects, but even with the use of forensics, they find an array of confusing answers.

Etta and Tripp develop an intense love. However, they are not prepared for love, and their relationship ravels into many difficulties.

My Green Grocer is a delightful combination of drama and lightheartedness, which is difficult to portray and satisfying to read!

About the genre: Chick Lit. is a book genre which has exploded during the last ten years. Now there is Smarter Chick Lit. Notable reading about real people, beyond shopping and being bitchy-thin.

Smarter Chick Lit. is still about fun, escape, and intrigue, but without losing the classic and literary quality of a good book.
