This book is an autobiography motivated by the need to document and pass on my life experiences not just to my children but to many around and those to come.
Coming from a culture that was mainly oral in passing on information from one generation to the next, it has become increasingly clear that the young generation are losing a lot about their origins. Many have just scanty information about their history and significant lessons they could have learned from those ahead of them.
This memoir talks about my family roots as far back as I can recall and goes on to describe what growing up in a polygamous family in Kenya was like. The book expounds on my early, mid and late schooling years. It also describes significant moments in my life like graduation from University, marriage and the birth of my children. Further expounded are life altering decisions I made along the way such as receiving Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour; choosing Christine as my life partner and making the decision to transition my family to a foreign country to experience a different life.
Perhaps the most unexpected part of my life’s journey, and what has been the major drive behind writing this memoir, was receiving a life-threatening cancer diagnosis at the prime of my life. This diagnosis not just altered my life in one day but left me facing a very uncertain future. I began to think about the true meaning of life and death in ways that I had never done before. I was certain that the God who holds all life in His hands, has the final say for my existence on earth and has the power to heal me. I was also sure that a potential early exit from earth would be eternity in His presence. If that was the case, I thought about what I had to leave behind for my family and future generations. This memoir is the culmination of that thought process. “My Life, My Legacy!”
