In the corner of the shed, covered in flies, the grotesquely swollen body of a man lay on the hard clay floor, the putrid smell of his death stole every inch of air in the shed. He climbed unsteadily to his feet and bent over, hands on knees, puked and retched goat stew, Johnny Walker, bile and phlegm until all that remained was the burning taste of aqua ardente and the stench of a rotting corpse. He stumbled to the door, pressed his mouth and nose against a small line of light and managed to breathe in fresh air. Nothing could have prepared the hardened soldier for this and right at that very moment, he wished for death. The pain in his legs forced him to the floor, his head pounded and he cursed the albino as he sat as close to the crack in the door as possible.
Nick Thorne, a South African Special Forces Soldier, desperately trying to retire, trying to put a senseless and brutal war behind him is drawn back into a Brutal conflict.
But this time he is on his own, forced to hunt a faceless enemy driven by greed and lust for Angolan diamonds and who will stop at nothing to plunder these beautiful bloody diamonds.
And the beautiful enigmatic Deo Linde Rodriguez, who moves Angola’s illicit diamonds across the world so men can continue to kill.
Nicks perilous journey takes him through Angola, a country destroyed by a brutal civil war to the remote North Lunda’s, Angola’s bloody diamond fields and where the hunter becomes the hunted.
It is a story of the tragedy of war and the brutality of greed, where in the end there are no winners.
