Trouble seems to have a way of finding Luke: tagging, stealing, fighting, and skipping school. When his grandfather takes him north for some time out, Luke finds a very different life – living at the end of a dirt road and going to a school where image counts for nothing.

But after a summer term of fishing, bodysurfing and playing touch rugby, his trip back home for the holidays is disappointing. The bullies are still there, Mum never has any money and the city is no fun without it.

Back up north again with his grandfather, a fishing trip turns to disaster and Luke is faced with a terrible choice...
