Charles Godfrey Leland (1824-1903) was an American writer working in the genres humour and satire and collecting folklore. He studied American and European traditions and travelled a lot while working as a journalist. Leland became famous for his comic book 'Hans Breitman's Ballads'. This story is an Indian legend retold by Leland and it tells us about Glooskap and his brother Malsunmsis who are both gods. Glooskap is kind-hearted and comes to light as any other child does but Makmunmsis is malevolent and he chooses to be born killing his own mother at the same time. The two brothers grow together and one day the decide to exchange the secret about thing that can kill them. But is it worth trusting such an evil man?
