Violet woke up on her 18th birthday expecting it to be pretty much like any other day. It was not. First, her dad was gone...again. Then her mom kept defending him--like it was okay for him to be "at work" this much. Thank goodness she had her little brother so there was at least one other sane family member. Of course school was boring, as usual, but then, as the worst birthday of her life wound down, something happened. She heard the voice of a boy.
