Having your book accepted to be published doesn’t mean that you’ve written the best book ever but it simply means that a professional publishing company who rejects thousands of books every year, saw something in your writings that they deemed to be entertaining, interesting, engaging or maybe even compelling enough to be out there for all to read. Maybe it was funny, heart warming, or just a very original storyline with a great ending.
Well…. My goal was to embrace all of the above when I sat down to write Old Dogs And Leprechauns.
You know, they call these the golden years for us old timers. But my golden years were when I was in my twenties, traveling the world and thinking I was going to live forever.
Well… time waits for no man but I’ve relived my life in this book. Not my actual life, which would be too boring to write about. But my fantasy life, a fairytale story of the life I would love to have lived. And having finished the book I now find myself envying my main character for the life I gave him.
I can’t leave out the little one, Fiona. I named her after our own Jack Russell, Fiona. And yes, that’s her picture on the cover. She follows me as I garden, she sleeps at my feet when I’m writing, we take naps together, and we walk for hours every day. I’m amazed that all she asks out of life is to be with us.
Thank you for buying my book. If you’re buying it for an older person you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that having read it, they’ll not only want to pass it on but buy it for the younger ones. While it’s not a children’s book it is suitable for teens and up and you don’t have to be Irish to enjoy it.
It’s my wish that you become enamored by the book, the characters and the story itself. And not the author. That, in my opinion, is what a book should be about. I hope I have achieved that, with,
Old Dogs and Leprechauns!!
