April 1965. After struggling for twenty years to suppress his nightmare memories of the Nazis’ Final Solution, fifty year old London diamond merchant Samuel Baruch learns he has cancer. He decides to devote all his energies to pursuing Giessler, the man he blames for the death of his young wife amid the horrors of the Holocaust.

Samuel’s quest takes him to Vienna, where he meets private detective Esther Szabo, and together they set out to unravel the mystery of Giessler’s disappearance in 1945.

During the dark days of the war, Samuel’s and Giessler’s lives had been bound together by a highly classified secret. Now they are once again drawn together on a collision course as a desperate game of cat and mouse develops – but who is the pursuer and who the prey?

As the action ranges across two continents, only one question matters - who will strike first? The reader is kept guessing as the tension builds to a climax which brings a startling revelation.
