It is the summer of 1941 and Billi O’Shaughnessy's Japanese language professor at the University of Washington has all but assured her that she will win the Japanese language contest and a coveted trip to the Land of the Rising Sun.

However, FBI agent, Jack Huntington, has other plans for Billi's talents. He sets out to persuade her to assist the FBI in uncovering the major players of the Nippon spy ring working up and down the West Coast in preparation for Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor. When Billi refuses to become involved, Jack coerces her to help. He takes her to San Francisco where he establishes her in a bar posing as a hooker. Billi becomes embroiled in a dangerous hide and seek with Akio, the head of the spy ring. When Akio discovers Billi's true identity, Jack must expose his mission in order to save her. The two men fight savagely, yet Akio escapes just as the news of the attack on Pearl Harbor reaches the mainland.

This historical fiction weaves through events specific to the buildup to World War II. It brings to the forefront the decrypting machine “Magic”, the “Purple” code, and the “Winds” code.  Suspenseful, packed with accurate details, and told through engaging characters, Orchids of War will alter your perception of World War II.

Watch for the sequel, Storms From A Clear Sky, arriving on bookshelves soon.
