A guy grows up as an 'engineer type kid.' He's smart and hard working, but not politically skilled.
He graduates from college and gets an engineer job. He also gets treated very badly.
He changes jobs a couple of times, but he still gets treated badly.
He then gets laid off and he gets a job with a company he calls Political People. The economy is down and he's lucky to get the job.
He's obviously caught in a trap at PP. However, he determined that he'll work for PP's paychecks and he'll work hard and work smart. He'll do the kind of work that should advance him in his profession. He'll also get the hell out of PP as soon as he can get another decent job somewhere else.
He needs more experience in certain areas in which PP works. At the time he's hired, there are seven such areas where he needs experience. Within six hard working months on the job, he has acquired enough solid knowledge to list two of the seven areas in his resume and he even publishes an article in a technical journal! He's building his career he thinks that he's on his way.
It turns out that he's on his way to a remote field site, with no real chance of finding a local job, given the state of the local job market.
He signs a binding contract for a years service at a remote field site.
He gets some travel money and goes to a remote site, Outpost. He then finds that almost all of the PP people assigned to Outpost are incompetent, ass kissing politicians.
He then makes sure that he does his assigned work at Outpost carefully and cleverly. He also makes sure that the military customer know who's doing the good work.
With just a week left to go in his exile on Outpost, a large, luxury bus arrives at Outpost. The bus contains Alvin, the PP CEO and Alicia, his trophy wife plus four more members of PP management and their wives plus two ladies from PP Accounting. It turns out that the PP top management is scheduled to make presentations at three remote bases. The engineer can see that what the PP people want to sell the people at Outpost, won't sell.
The ladies then tell the engineer, “The only reason that Jan and I are along for the trip is so that we can't tell people back in the city that PP is bankrupt.”
At the end of the ill fated bus trip, the bus breaks down.
The engineer and the accounting ladies will ride home in the engineer's car.
The PP management is bankrupt and the only way home is for the PP management wives to dance nude in the Silver Dollar Saloon and sell themselves to the locals, for traveling money.
Things rapidly descend into sexual chaos.
